Paul Duffy Challenging for Auckland’s Mayoralty

Auckland, 16th August, 2013 – Founder of duffyclub™ Paul Duffy is challenging for Auckland’s mayoralty. “My key focus is to ensure there is Financial Discipline at Auckland Council so we can build the world’s most sustainable liveable city and provide a future for our younger generations.”

duffyclub™, specialists in educating tweens and families about money across New Zealand via a face-to-face and online programme, has given Paul Duffy the understanding of Aucklanders’ finances and how Auckland city functions. Speaking engagements with duffyclub™ led Paul Duffy to become a short-listed candidate for New Zealand’s Retirement Commissioner, and work within Auckland Council’s planning and budgeting department.

Over the past eight and a half years Paul Duffy has educated over 15,000 students from over one hundred schools across New Zealand through workshops in schools and online e-tutorials. Paul Duffy has also worked very closely with Auckland Council’s finances while implementing a Financial Literacy Education Programme for Auckland Council employees.

Paul Duffy says, “Auckland Council is operating with unsustainable debt levels up to 275% of revenue, reports operating deficits where there is more money going out than coming in, is unprepared for a highly depreciating Balance Sheet, and advertises an asset spend pipeline that could bankrupt the city and ratepayers.”

Paul Duffy has built a mayoral website at www.paulduffyformayor.co.nz which delivers the solutions for Auckland City.

“My vision is to be the financially savvy mayor who brings a breath of innovative fresh air to Auckland Council so Aucklanders can get on with their lives with full knowledge that there is a trusted person ensuring every rates dollar is well spent to achieve the vision of Auckland becoming the world’s most sustainable liveable city.”
