Invercargill Police Seek Man on Warrant To Arrest

A warrant to arrest has been issued for a man Invercargill Police have been actively seeking to locate since yesterday.

Dale Jason Shillito (pictured), aged 30, of Invercargill is being sought in relation to an alleged serious assault which occurred in the city on the weekend.

Although due to appear in the Invercargill District Court today on unrelated charges, Mr Shillito did not appear.

Warrants to arrest for wounding a person with intent to wound, and failing to appear in court have since been issued.

Mr Shillito is described as European, 182cm in height, of medium to solid build with short, dark hair and is clean shaven.

The alleged serious assault occurred at an address in Invercargill in the early hours of Sunday morning when Mr Shillito assaulted a female flatmate living at his address.

Part of the woman's ear was bitten off during the assault and she required medical treatment.

Yesterday Police received information that Mr Shillito was at an address on the Lumsden-Riversdale Highway in the township of Balfour but he was unable to be located.

Police say Mr Shillito could be anywhere in the South Island and they are keen to find him.

He is not believed to be a danger to the public but anyone who sees him should not approach him but call 111 immediately. Anyone who has information about his whereabouts should contact their nearest police station or provide information anonymously via CrimeStoppers 0800 555 111.
