Placemaking Palmerston North – registrations for round two

Placemaking Palmerston North – registrations called for round two

The Placemaking round two launch will be held on Monday 26 August 2013 at Palmerston North City Library, Level Two, from 5.30pm-6.30pm.

City planner David Murphy says Placemaking provides retailers and residents with the chance to enliven the space around their homes and businesses to create a welcoming sense of place.

The Placemaking DIY kits, designed by David Engwicht of Creative Communities, are free to Placemaking teams and provide narrative, inspiration and tools to take an uninspiring space and turn it into an inspiring place.

Round two will be facilitated by Hayley Parsons, a local Placemaking champion.

“Placemaking is all about active citizenship and Hayley has proven to be a strong advocate for Placemaking, through her work on the Linton Camp project,” says David. “I’m certain the new teams will benefit from her learnings and guidance.”

David says previous participants will talk about their Placemaking endeavours at the launch which I’m sure will prove inspirational for the new round of participants.

Registration forms can be downloaded from pncc.govt.nz search Placemaking, or the Placemaking Palmerston North Facebook page.

David Murphy says once round two participants have worked their way through the Placemaking DIY kits and activated their ‘place’ they will have the opportunity to present their work at a show and tell event planned for November.
