Mayor in the Chair at Manukau Institute of Technology campus

Mayor in the Chair at Manukau Institute of Technology campus

Len Brown is looking forward to hearing what MIT students and staff have to say about their community, their council and its plans for the future during his next Mayor in the Chair on Friday 6 September.

The Mayor will be at the Manukau Institute of Technology’s North Campus in Otara from midday until 1pm.

Mayor in the Chair sessions are regular, one-hour lunchtime events held in different areas around Auckland, where locals can pull up a chair and have a brief one-to-one chat with the Mayor about their aspirations and concerns for their community and wider Auckland.

“Our students are an important part of Auckland’s social fabric and our future. An Auckland full of highly skilled young people will make it a great place to live and work. The wellbeing of young people is a key principle of the Auckland Plan – I want to create a city in which every young person can reach his or her full potential,” says Len Brown.

“There is a wealth of talent and creative thinking amongst Auckland’s students, and it will be great to chat to them and hear what they have to say. Everyone is welcome to drop by the sessions – students, staff and people who live and work nearby.”

The Mayor will set up his chairs at MIT in NS107, on North Campus, through NO block reception, turn left towards the corridor to NS block, from midday until 1pm on Friday 6 September.
