Fee changes at Council's sports and recreation facilities

Annual and monthly memberships to Christchurch City Council pool and fitness facilities are set to rise by three per cent from 1 October as part of an annual fees increase announced today.

The fee increases, which average six per cent across all the Council's sports and recreation facilities, are part of the annual review process. The increases are being made to offset higher operational running costs for maintenance and ongoing improvements to facilities, including Council owned swimming pools and fitness centres, Rawhiti Golf Links and indoor stadia.

John Filsell, Recreation & Sport Manager, said, "The updated pricing will help ensure the Council continues to offer highest quality recreational services and facilities for members and casual users alike.

"Sports and recreation centres such as Pioneer, Jellie Park and Graham Condon are world class facilities that continue to offer superb value. We appreciate these facilities are important to the community's wellbeing and have made every effort to keep fees low for families and for programmes such as Swimsafe and Swimsmart that teach children invaluable life skills," said Mr Filsell.

New fees for a range of services include:

* Flexi monthly multi (pool and fitness) membership - $77.00
* Flexi monthly pool membership - $55.00
* Jellie Park hydroslides (indoor and outdoor) child entry - $7.00
* Adult swimming (casual) - $5.50
* Green fees, 18 holes, Rawhiti Golf Links, Monday - Friday - $17.00
* SwimSmart, school age and adult (25 minute) - $11.20

The majority of fee changes apply from 1 October 2013. Fee increases for SwimSmart and Swim Coaching fees take effect from 1 January 2014 and 1 April 2014 respectively
