District Plan Review – join the conversation
The Christchurch City Council is asking the people of Christchurch to join the District Plan Review conversation at community drop-in sessions and pop-up walls around the city from Wednesday 28 August.
The Council’s City Planning Unit Manager Brigitte de Ronde encourages the people of Christchurch to take part in the district plan review and asks them weigh up the issues and help find the right balance for future land use.
The Council is holding community drop-in sessions around the city. People can come along and learn more about the District Plan Review and share their views with planners.

The Council is also
giving the people of Christchurch the chance to share their
views at pop-up walls around the city. Initially, the
Council will be asking for feedback on the five questions
below. People just need to add a sticky note to the question
on the pop-up wall they have a view on. The feedback will
then be passed onto planners as they are drafting the plan.
The questions are:
• What's changed in the way you
think about Christchurch as a place to live and work, now
and in the future?
• Thinking about the location of
businesses — commercial, retail, office and industrial —
what's important to you?
• Thinking about getting
around the city, what's important to you?
• Thinking
about the possible impacts of growth and development on our
natural environment, what's important to you?
• Thinking about section sizes, what's important to
you?

The district plan, which incorporates the current Christchurch City Plan and the Banks Peninsula District Plan, affects everyone in the community as it is the rulebook for all types of land use. These include residential and business zoning, transport, natural hazards, future development areas and subdivisions and earthworks.
