MEDIA RELEASE

Taranaki Police have serious concerns for the safety and whereabouts of a 24 year old woman who has been reported missing near Opunake.

The woman was last seen at approximately 3.00pm on Monday 02 September 2013 at a rural address near Opunake. She walked off across farmland intending to visit the nearby beach.

A search and rescue operation was launched after she failed to return to the farmhouse by 7.00pm.

NZ Land SAR searchers, Police Search & Rescue staff, and the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter have assisted with the search throughout the night with no sign of the missing woman.

She is described as approx 160 - 165cm tall, with a solid upper build. She was last seen with a large white blanket wrapped around her body.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this female, and ask that they contact the Police immediately, quoting event number P014712561.
