NZ Hotelier Wins Australasian Hospitality Award
Pullman Auckland’s Rob McIntyre is General Manager of the Year
Rob McIntyre from Accor’s Pullman Auckland hotel has been judged New Zealand General Manager of the Year in the 2013 HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence in Sydney.
It was a big night for the Pullman brand at the awards with it taking out the Hotel Brand of the Year while Accor hotels throughout Australasia won eight major titles altogether.
The five-star Auckland hotel is the only Pullman in New Zealand and Rob McIntyre has been general manager since 2011. Under his tenure, the brand was successfully established in the city and the hotel’s lobby and café were extensively refurbished.
McIntyre also oversaw the unveiling of the hotel’s new $10,000-a-night Presidential Penthouse reserved for international celebrities, musicians, the sporting elite and royalty.
“The general manager’s award reflects a lot of hard work by many people at Pullman Auckland,” McIntyre says. “I am absolutely delighted their creative talents have been recognised through me at what really is the Oscars of the Australasian hospitality industry.
“I’m looking forward to celebrating with the team at the appropriate time,” McIntyre says.
The 11th annual HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence presented by Sealy were announced on the weekend (Sept 6, 2013) and are regarded as the leading awards for the accommodation industry in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.
They are hosted annually by leading industry magazine Hotel Management.
