Dog-ged determination behind puppie's rescue from brothel

Dog-ged determination behind Hamilton puppie's rescue from Auckland brothel

In a case of dog-ged determination, Hamilton Police hope to be able to return a stolen puppy to its owner after recovering it from an Auckland brothel today.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Neville Ross of the Hamilton Tactical Crime Unit said the recovery of the Chihuahua-Papion-Pomeranian puppy resulted from a burglary investigation after a home was broken into in Melville on 18 September.

"A description of a vehicle seen leaving the property was provided to Police resulting in the identifying of 19 and 21-year-old sisters and their arrest for burglary.

"As a result of their arrest the breeding dog and one of the puppies were returned to the owner and follow up enquiries led us to a third woman who had the dog in Auckland which we recovered today."

Mr Ross said the puppy's recovery capped off an interesting week with the little canine standing tall alongside a stolen building, vehicles and electronic items recovered by his team this week.
