Intagr8 Donates to a Local School in Auckland

A fundraising initiative organised by Campbells Bay School and Lions Club on 5th July 2013 was a fun filled event which raised total funds of $4,700. Intagr8 won The Lincoln Limousine auction donating $500. Various truck, car, bus and a helicopter rides were auctioned with the winners and their friends getting cool rides to school. The fantastic Friday assembly promoted “Cool Rides to School” including a walk around the amazing vehicles at Campbells Bay Primary School in North Shore, Auckland.

The Cool Rides to School Auction provided a unique and exciting opportunity for the kids to travel to school. Parents and guardians of the school children were asked to choose preferred vehicles for their kid’s ride to school and make bids on these between 18th to 30th June, 2013, bids started from $30. On the day of event the cool rides vehicles collected the children from their homes and the fleet of amazing vehicles formed a convoy and completed a circuit around the streets of school.

The fleet comprised of fun vehicles such as a Mr Whippy Van & Party Buses. An all-time hit and desired by all boys was a 1979 Ferrari 308 GTB Classic Ferrari, only 200 ever made, lightweight race model. Some of the most classic rides included Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's NZ’s cousin, a Vulcan 2 door sport car and Blues Fiat Bambina by one of the wider squad. This car has been driven by John Kirwan, Keven Mealamu and all of the Blues players. The attraction of the event was the Frighteningly Cool Ride! This red coloured scarily cool ride had a dragon face at its rear end and had a smoke machine to make smoke come out of the dragon’s nose, plus an external sound system which really pepped up the amazing ride while driving on the convoy. Last but not the least, some of the lovely ladies arrived in style and elegance in the Lincoln Limos. Cool Rides vehicles parked up in the school grounds where all the children enjoyed walking through these fancy vehicles. The grand finale of this event was the helicopter ride which departed from the school grounds.

The Cool Rides to School Auction was a successful and fun event which Intagr8 enjoyed taking part in. The school children enjoyed the entire event from getting picked up from their homes in a cool ride to walking past the classic vehicles with their friends. Reportedly, there have been nine incidents resulting in 17 civilian deaths and injuries (seven of the dead were children) caused by ordnance left behind on what used to be the firing range of our Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Bamiyan province.

Given that the NZ Defence Force has needed to be hauled kicking and screaming into belatedly arranging an adequate clean-up of its old firing range… what would it take before New Zealand offers to pay compensation to the families of those who suffered death and injury from what was left behind on our watch?
