BW Summer Festival celebrates Guinness World Record success!

Gisborne, New Zealand. ‘BW Summer Festival’ in association with The Edge Radio, is proud to celebrate Guinness World Record success.

On the last day of 2013 more than 3,000 people gathered at Gisborne beach to cheer on 745 excited skinny dippers. The group of naked festival goers took to the water, staying out in the ocean for over five minutes splashing and swimming.

“The skinny dip is a great way to let your hair down on the last day of the year. Those who took part have made Guinness World Record history with the most people skinny dipping at one time. We plan to keep the event on the programme for years to come and hope to attract an even bigger group next New Year’s Eve,” says Toby Burrows, BW Summer Festival Director

Not only is Gisborne one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, it’s also the first place in the world to see the sun on New Year’s Day. This unique corner of the world has long attracted international travellers and Kiwis alike.

The BW Summer Festival has been home to campers for the past 11 years and includes a line up of the country’s top musical acts at the Jim Beam Soundshell.
