Update on water quality at Judges Bay

Update on water quality at Judges Bay

The latest water tests for Auckland’s Judges Bay show quality issues are back to normal so swimming and other water activity there can resume in time for Auckland Anniversary Weekend.

At this stage council cannot confirm what would have caused the high reading. There are a number of factors, including the effect of the recent rainfall washing matter into the bay that could have influence on the levels of bacteria. Council will continue to investigate this matter.

The situation developed on Wednesday when the result from the council’s weekly testing had showed a surprisingly poor result for Judges Bay.

The warning signs put up on Wednesday afternoon are being taken down now the all clear is given.

Recent results for the nearby beaches along Tamaki Drive show that they also have good quality water for swimming.

People can check out our weekly test results by calling 0800 SAFESWIM (0800 723 379) or visiting www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/safeswim
