NETWORK SUMMARY for week ending 9 March 2014
ELECTRICITY

The cooler Autumn temperatures this week had Aucklanders turning up the heat in their homes, and may have contributed to a spate of fires across the city. Our crews were called out to residences in Mangere, Ponsonby, Blockhouse Bay, Middlemore, Te Atatu South, Otahuhu, Grey Lynn and Wellesley Street in Auckland’s CBD. We isolated the sites for power and gas for safety reasons.

There were four car v pole incidents over the week in Papatoetoe, Mangere East with two in Otahuhu.
A car collided with a pillar on the roadside in Papatoetoe causing damage.

GAS

Incidents occurred in Remuera, Birkdale and Westmere where contractors struck gas pipes while undertaking work in those areas.

PROJECTS

Kingsland Substation

The major electrical project in the Auckland suburb of Kingsland is progressing well. The $8.3 million project involves the replacement of the existing 22kV switchgear with 33kV rated switchgear at the substation. A new switch room is currently being built to accommodate 19 bay double bus switchgear. The new switch room is expected to be complete by the end of May. Switchgear installation will follow.
