Thefts from boats in Far North

Police are investigating some thefts from boats at a marina near Kerikeri.

Two outboard motors and a fuel tank were stolen off different boats in the Kerikeri Cruising Club Marina at Doves Bay. The thefts are believed to have occurred on the night of April 25.

A 15hp Yamaha two-stroke outboard motor was taken off a launch and the offenders also removed a 15hp black Yamaha outboard motor, with the word 'Kiwi' sign written on it, from an inflatable dinghy. The dinghy was tied to a larger boat.

A 25 litre fuel tank was taken from another boat.

Anyone with information relating to the thefts or who noticed any suspicious activity around the marina between April 25 and 28 can contact the Kerikeri Police on 09 407 9211. If they wish to remain anonymous they can contact the Crimestoppers organisation on 0800 555 111.

Police also remind boaties to be vigilant regarding theft and burglary of boats
and report any suspicious activity in the area.
