Whangamata Mountain Bike Track to be Rebuilt
Whangamata Mountain Bike Track to be Rebuilt
The Whangamata Community Board has contributed $7800 from the Board's grant fund to rebuild the mountain bike tracks. The tracks have been demolished due to the harvesting of the pines owned by Rayonier Matariki Forests.
"Whangamata
based EPL Construction Company and Thames-Coromandel
District Council has formed a partnership with the club to
get the tracks finished as soon as possible," said Garry
Towler, Whangamata Area Manager.
"The mountain bike
tracks in Whangamata are nationally recognised; the
Whangamata Community Board support the clubs determination
to get the tracks re-opened and is seen as a priority for
the Community Board." Mr Towler added.
Work is
expected to begin shortly to ensure the tracks are back in
place before the re-planting of the
forest.
