Fatal motor vehicle crash near Timaru

The Canterbury Police Serious Crash Investigation Team is currently at the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash on a rural road near Timaru.

The driver has struck a parked vehicle at road works on Beaconsfield Road near Timaru shortly after 12pm today. No other vehicles were involved.

Beaconsfield Road has been cordoned off while Police conduct a scene examination to establish the cause of the crash.

No details of the driver will be released until next of kin have been informed.

The death has been referred to the coroner.
