One Tree Hill remains recovered
Auckland Council says it is pleased the remains of the One Tree Hill pine tree have been recovered after being illegally offered for sale on Trade Me.
The remains – which are the property of Auckland Council – were being stored by one of Council’s arborist contractors. When the listing of the remains became known, the contractor contacted police who seized it for return to the contractor’s yard.
Auckland
Council will be in discussion with The Tūpuna Maunga o
Tāmaki Makaurau Authority as to the circumstances of the
remains’ removal and its future care.
The remains are
in a poor state with rot and mould.
A section of the pine tree remains at the Cornwall Park Trust Visitor Centre detailing the timeline of the tree.
