Music and fun on offer at Tupare, Hollards

Music and fun on offer at Tupare, Hollards

5 January 2015

Music is a common thread as two of Taranaki’s premier heritage properties offer lively free holiday events this weekend (10 and 11 January).

A bustling garden fair at Tupare in New Plymouth on Saturday 10 January from 10am to 3pm (preceded by a guided walk at 8.30am) will be followed a day later by a free, family-oriented concert at Hollard Gardens, Kaponga, on Sunday 11 January from 6pm to 9pm.

Both events will feature live music by Hard Candy, a local group that offers a good-time mix of country blues music spiked with boogie and swing

“This group has been popular at previous garden fairs, and this year we’re trying something new by giving people the opportunity to enjoy them at an evening outdoor concert at Hollard Gardens, as well as the garden fair at Tupare,” says the Taranaki Regional Council’s Regional Gardens Manager, Greg Rine. “Both venues are magic.”

Details of the two weekend events:

Tupare, 487 Mangorei Road, New Plymouth, Saturday 10 January: Guided walk 8.30am, garden fair 10am-3pm featuring live music, food, arts, crafts and keepsakes, Tupare house tours, family games, pony rides and demonstrations on the river flat. Entry is free.

Hollard Gardens, 1686 Upper Manaia Road, Kaponga, Sunday 11 January: Summer music, 6pm-9pm, featuring Hard Candy’s family-oriented toe-tapping, good time mix of country blues music spiked with boogie and swing. Sausage sizzle, pizza and coffee on sale or bring a picnic. Free entry. Wet weather venue: Kaponga Hall.
