Change of Fire Season Status

The lighting of fires in the open air within Horowhenua District - excluding the three kilometre coastal margin, all beaches, all land within one metre of DOC reserves and all DOC land - is now at OPEN status, meaning no permits are required.

The three kilometre coastal margin remains at RESTRICTED (fire by permit only).
All beaches are PROHIBITED (total fire ban).

And, all land within 1 metre of a Department of Conservation reserve and all Department of Conservation land remain as RESTRICTED (fire by permit only).
