Helicopter rejoins search for Dutch tourist

While ground teams scour the beaches and tracks between Wharariki and Puponga in Golden Bay a helicopter has again been deployed to conduct an aerial search.

The helicopter will cover the area extending in all directions from the last known sighting of Dutch tourist Ken Boogers on the Pillar Point track.

Two specialist search dogs are enroute from Canterbury and are expected to join the search tomorrow morning.

No further sightings of Mr Boogers have been reported since he was seen about midday on Saturday walking on the Pillar Point track.

The weather in the search area has been fine all day today.

Police would like to speak to anyone who has seen Mr Boogers since Saturday.

Anyone with information should call Nelson Police Ph 5463840 or Takaka Police Ph 5259211.
