"Police urge patience with traffic congestion - State Highway 1 Cambridge - Waikato"

Police are are reminding drivers returning home from their holidays to be patient as traffic builds up in the upper North Island.

In particular traffic is currently building up on State Highway One through Cambridge from Hydro road to North of the city, due to road works.

Long delays are expected on State Highway's 1 , 2 and 27.

The Northern Communications Shift Commander Inspector Tony Wakelin said " It is inevitable that with many motorists returning home today, that there will be long traffic queues.

Drivers should factor in extra time for their journey.

Frustration can lead to taking risks so its important to be patient and get home safely."
