Man charged with using threatening language in Christchurch

Canterbury Police have arrested a man following reports that, while talking to a community support agency, he made threats against staff in a WINZ office in Christchurch this morning. The Hornby WINZ office was closed as a precaution according to standard procedure and reopened this afternoon.

The man was located after a short search nowhere near the Hornby WINZ office.

The 52 year old Christchurch man has been charged with using threatening language and is due to appear in Christchurch District Court on 29 April 2015.

Canterbury Police would like to thank the community support agency for their vigilance.
