Man critically injured during suspected assault
At approximately 4.40am this morning (Sunday, 3 May) police received a report of a serious assault at an address in Belk Road, Tauranga.
A 41-year-old man was taken to Tauranga Hospital where he underwent surgery and has since been transferred to Waikato Hospital.
He is in a critical condition and his injuries are believed to be the result of a stabbing.
A 32-year-old man known to the victim is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
ESR will be examining the address today.
