Police appeal for witnesses following sheep theft in Burnham
Canterbury Police urge the rural community to be vigilant after 170 sheep were reported stolen from a farm near Burnham overnight on Tuesday (5 May 2015).
It is unusual for farmers to move animals overnight and Canterbury Police are appealing to anyone who was travelling near Wards Road in the Burnham/Rolleston area between 4pm on Tuesday (5 May 2015) and 7am on Wednesday (6 May 2015) and saw a large number of sheep being transported to contact them. It is possible that multiple trips were made to move the sheep from the farm.
Canterbury Police encourage anyone who sees any suspicious activity at night near farms, or stock [farm animals] being moved, to report it to Police straight away by calling 111 with the vehicle's registration and description if available.
Anyone who can provide any information relating to the this incident is asked to call Rolleston Police Station on 03 347 9248.
Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quoting ‘Burnham sheep theft’.
