Unprovoked assault on deaf teenager
Police are asking for assistance from the Public in relation to an unprovoked assault on a profoundly deaf youth at Van Asch College in Sumner. At about 7.30 pm on Saturday 16 May, 2015 the boy aged 14 years was playing spotlight with some friends. When his friends hid he was approached by two males within the grounds of the College. They identified that he was deaf, initially turned to walk away but then ran directly at him.
One male punched him once to the face and then kicked him in the thigh.
Medical attention for the boy was sought at the Bealey Ave 24 hour surgery. The offenders were described as male Caucasians.
The main offender wore a white cap and his associate wore a blue cap. Both attackers were believed to have been drinking.
