Rate Rebates applications for 2014/2015 close next Tuesday

Rate Rebates applications for 2014/2015 year close next Tuesday

Horowhenua ratepayers are reminded that next Tuesday is the last day available to apply for rates rebates for the 2014/2015 year.

In the year to date Horowhenua District Council has processed 2192 applications and paid out $1,093,593 to ratepayers. Those who have not already applied are encouraged to do so before the deadline of 5pm next Tuesday 30 June.

Residential ratepayers with a combined income of up to $24,250 may be eligible for a rates rebate of up to $605.Those earning above the maximum threshold may still qualify for a rebate, depending on their income, level of rates and number of dependants.

The rebate is based on total income for the year ending 31 March 2014 and the amount of rates, for both Horowhenua District Council and Horizons Regional Council.

Also to be eligible, ratepayers need to have been living in their property at 1 July 2014 and named as an owner of that property.

The only information applicants need to provide is proof of income (before tax) for the tax year ended 31 March 2014, including any interest received, as well as proof of a partner’s income or joint income if living together.

Application forms are available from Council's office in Levin and District libraries

Further information and applications forms are also available online at www.horowhenua.govt.nz/ratesrebates
