The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that due to a crash, State Highway 1 is closed in both directions between Woodcocks Road and Mckinney Road south of Warkworth.
Emergency services are at the scene.
Detours are in place but motorists are advised to avoid the area and use SH16 as an alternative route when travelling both north and south.
There are delays and the Transport Agency urges road users to allow more time for their journey.
