Investigation: Serious Assault New Brighton Mall.
Christchurch Canterbury CIB investigations are continuing into the assault on a 72 year old local man in the New Brighton Mall area overnight.
Senior Sergeant Roy Appley says “Police would like to hear from anyone who may have any information about this incident.
The injured male is currently in Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.
A cordon has been established around the scene of the assault where a small teem of Police are currently examining.
A further comment will be made by the officer in charge of the investigation as soon as this examination is complete.
