Arrests in Hamilton homicide investigation
11 August 2015 Hamilton Police working on the homicide investigation after the discovery of an elderly man’s body in a central city public toilet have arrested two people.
They will appear in the Hamilton District Court this afternoon to face charges of Assault, Unlawfully Taking a Motor Vehicle and other charges. There is still a lot of investigation and forensic work to be completed and a team of investigators and specialists have started the difficult job of finding and piecing together the evidence that will reconstruct the events of last night.
The Eastern end of London Street remains closed as forensic examinations get underway.
The public are asked to be patient as work continues to clear the scene so that people are not inconvenienced more than absolutely necessary.
The identity of the dead man is believed to be known however formal identification has not been completed and his name is not yet able to be released.
This will be done as soon as possible.
