State Highway 1 to Cheviot, road work for two-and-a-half
months, single lane October
The NZ Transport
Agency’s ten weeks of road repairs on the state highway
just 3km south of Oaro, near Kaikoura, scheduled for the end
of September is now likely to start 12 October. (See the
Transport Agency web map for exact location.)
The highway will be
reduced to a single lane with traffic signals. Drivers
should expect delays of ten minutes at times. A retaining
wall has to be constructed and a guardrail reinstated for
the summer holiday period.
