Teen charged with Timaru burglary

Teen charged with Timaru burglary

As a result of ongoing investigations into a number of burglaries in the Parkside area of Timaru in recent weeks, Canterbury Police executed two search warrants today.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Quested said “The two search warrants were for residential addresses in Timaru and Pleasant Point. Some property from one of the burglaries was recovered during the search.”

A 17 year old has been arrested and charged with breach of bail and one count of burglary. He is due to appear in Timaru District Court tomorrow (25 September 2015).

Investigations are continuing.

“This is a timely reminder for everyone to look out for their neighbours and be safety conscious. Police want everyone to be safe and feel safe when they are in their homes. If you see any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood call Police straight away by dialling 111” explained Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Quested.

“Get to know your neighbours and if you are going away for a few days let someone you trust know so they can keep an eye on your property for you. Keep valuables secured out of sight and make sure you lock your windows and doors. If you see someone on a property that looks out of place raise the alarm.”

By working together with the community Canterbury Police will continue to identify and hold those who commit crime in our neighbourhoods accountable for their actions.

Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
