Delays possible as road works continue in the Bay of
Plenty
The NZ Transport Agency advises Bay
of Plenty motorists to drive with care and allow extra time
when travelling as work on a $5 million road safety
programme and other projects continue.
Speed restrictions and traffic management will be in place on state highways around the region.
Sites where delays of between five and 15 minutes are possible are detailed below to allow people to plan ahead when travelling.
SH2 Waiata, Waioeka Gorge - Rock-fall prevention
works
Manual stop/go traffic operation with speed
restrictions will be in place from Monday 12 October at
Waiata for rock-fall prevention work. Drivers should allow
an extra five to 10 minutes when travelling this route.
This work is expected to continue onto five other sites on
this road and is expected to be completed before
Christmas.
SH2 Waitekohe Stream Bridge near Forte
Lisa – south of Katikati
Manual stop/go traffic
management will be in place from Monday 12 October while
contractors repair handrails on the bridge. Motorists are
advised to allow an extra five to 10 minutes when travelling
on this route.
Rotorua District roads– resurfacing
and crack-seal repairs
Starting from Monday contractors
will be repairing and resurfacing sections of road
throughout the Rotorua district.
Motorists should expect
minor delays as stop/go traffic management and speed
restrictions will be in place. This work is weather
dependent but expected to be completed within the next few
weeks. Drivers are asked to take care as there may be loose
chip present after the work.
SH29 Kaimai
Range–weather activated variable speed sign trial
Speed
restrictions with lane closures will be in place along SH29
this month as work on the weather activated speed sign trial
continues.
Motorists are advised to allow an extra five
minutes when travelling on this route.
SH29A
Maungatapu roundabout
Lane closures will be in place to
allow for the construction of a temporary access road within
the roundabout area. The lane closures will occur between
9.00am to 4.00pm daily. Manual stop/go will also be in place
on Welcome Bay Road (in the vicinity of Hammond Street) on
Thursday 8 October between 9.00am and 3.00pm to allow for
changes to be made to high tension power lines. Motorists
are advised to allow an extra five minutes when travelling
on this route
