Joe Aspell Trust funding available for Wellington organisations supporting young people in need

The Wellington Joe Aspell Trust is inviting applications for funding support from community groups working with young people.

Chair of the Trust, Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown, says the trust provides a helping hand for organisations working with young people who are socially disadvantaged.

Applications will close on 31 October 2015 and criteria for applicants can be found at http://wellington.govt.nz/services/community-and-culture/funding/council-funds/joe-aspell-trust

“The late Joe Aspell was a former city councillor and business person and the trust set up in his name in 1990 has been providing grants to organisations giving support and general welfare for young people in Wellington city,” Mayor Wade-Brown says.

Applicants must be a group or organisation with a focus on Wellington City. Projects or programmes should benefit a large number of young people and make a difference to their lives.

Among the recipients of trust funds last year were Autism New Zealand, Can Teen Wellington, Skylight , the House of Grace Trust, the Wellington City Mission, Wellington Down Syndrome Social Club, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, Wellington Rape Crisis and Youthline Wellington.
