Men charged following search warrant in Kainga


A search warrant was executed at a residential address in the Kainga area today in relation to an investigations after six people were treated in Christchurch Hospital last week after taking synthetic drug known as 25B N-Bomb (a Synthetic drug).

Detective Senior Sergeant Jason Stewart says two men were arrested and 10 cannabis plants from a were seized by Police this morning.

A 19 year old local man has been charged with selling a psychoactive substance and is due to appear in Christchurch District Court this afternoon (16 October 2015).

A 54 year old man has also been charged with cultivating cannabis and has been bailed to appear in Christchurch District Court on 23 October 2015.

Five people were treated by Christchurch A&E last week and one man was admitted to ICU and placed into an induced coma after suffering adverse reactions to taking synthetic drugs.

A family spokesperson says “We turned the corner on Wednesday afternoon when Michael was brought out of the induced coma. He is now stable and being treated on a specialist ward. We would like to thank the community, Christchurch ICU and Emergency Doctors for their amazing support. We don’t want any other families to go through what we’re going through and urge them to seek help if they suspect someone they care about is taking drugs.”

Police investigations are ongoing.

As this matter is now before the court Police will not be making any further comment.
