Prime Minister Official Opens ENC Business Centre

We were delighted this week to have Prime Minister John Key officially open the Enterprise North Canterbury (ENC) Business Centre.

Approximately 75 guests from the local business community joined ENC Board members and staff at the event at the business centre. These included Waimakariri Mayor David Ayers and Hurunui Mayor Winton Dalley as well as local MP Matt Doocey and many from the local business community.

There was a traditional Pōwhiri and blessing of the business centre, followed by speeches from both Mayors, Matt Doocey, ENC Chief Executive Heather Warwick and the Prime Minister.

ENC Chief Executive, Heather Warwick thanked the sponsors, the two councils and the ENC Board who have helped to make the business centre a reality. She also highlighted the significance of the business centre as a signal to others that Kaiapoi is standing tall and regenerating.

The Prime Minister spoke about the importance of small businesses to the New Zealand economy and the role of ENC in supporting and encouraging business success in the region.

Heather Warwick says, “The ENC Business Centre not only brings the entire team under one roof, but it also offers a new space for businesses to meet, learn and network with the added bonus of the full support of the ENC team. This centre is the first of its kind in the region. It’s a step change for ENC and will not be just business as usual. We have identified new ways of engaging with more businesses and visitors to deliver greater services in our region. It’s an exciting time ahead”.

The ENC Business Centre has a conference room, meeting rooms and drop-in workspaces. For full details and online bookings visit www.northcanterbury.co.nz.
