"Man arrested following indecent assault on elderly woman"

Nelson Police arrested a 52 year old man yesterday evening following a report of an indecent assault on a woman in Richmond.

The alleged assault happened about 11.30am after the man approached the elderly woman at her home and asked for a glass of water.

He has been charged with indecent assault and will appear in the Nelson District Court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Johnston said the man is believed to have been riding a bicycle around the Richmond-Appleby area and Police are keen to hear from anyone else who may have been approached by the same man.
