Public feedback and ideas sought for Foxton Beach reserves

Members of the public are invited to have their say on how Foxton Beach reserves can be enhanced.

A ‘drop-in session’ is to be held on Saturday 21 May between 2.00pm and 4.00pm at Holben Pavilion in Signal Street for people to pop-in and suggest their ideas to Foxton Community Board members and Horowhenua District Council staff.

The Board is looking at opportunities to enhance these public reserves to better cater for the community and meet future demands. It will then prepare a plan to help shape the future investment in the reserve land, with $100,000 per year for 10 years allocated to the project as part of Council’s 2015–2025 Long Term Plan.

“Foxton Beach has some beautiful public reserves - parks, walkways and open space that are enjoyed by residents and visitors to our district,” said Board chairperson Janine Smart.

“We are interested to learn about how people currently use the reserves and their vision and aspirations for them - as individual reserves and as a network of many.”

This project includes Holben Reserve, Sunset Walkway, Hartley Street Reserve, Ferry Reserve, Flagstaff Reserve, Linklater Reserve, Hennessy-Lowe Reserve, Cousins Avenue Reserve and Foxton Beach Foreshore Reserves.

For more information about the drop-in session, please email Anna at annaw@horowhenua.govt.nz.
