Illume: Winter Festival of Light ready to shine at Coromandel Town

Coromandel Town is lighting up on 15-16 July with Illume: Winter Festival of Light.

Wrap up warm, light yourself up and get to Kapanga Road early with your friends and family so you can enjoy the wonders of this year's festival.

Coromandel Town will be aglow with light installations, lanterns, candles and all things that shine. There will be a street parade, night markets, a KidZone, live music and food stalls.

"Illume is a fun, free, family-friendly event held over the winter school holidays and this year's festival is shaping up to be the best yet," says Sandra Wilson, one of the Illume organisers.


Here's the line-up:

Friday 15 July:

• Kapanga Road will be lit up with spectacular lanterns, light features and projections.
• From 5:30pm there will be a night market with food, arts, crafts and lots of other goodies.
• Music by a selection of bands including Crimson Coast.

Saturday 16 July:

• Kapanga Rd will again be lit up.
• Music starts at 5:30pm with Magenta on stage between 7-8:30pm.
• Dine at the many food stalls.
• The Twisty Twins, Robotman and lots of other entertainers will be on hand.
• 6pm - Street parade
• 6:30pm - Powerco fireworks
• 7pm - Twisty Twins

The KidZone is open both nights from 5:30-8:30pm with:

• Special guests
• Talent show
• Glowing ring toss
• Night bowling
• Mini sleigh tug
• Snow balling
• Heaps more fun for the young and young at heart
