Chamber thanks Celia Wade-Brown

Mayor Celia Wade-Brown is to be congratulated on her more than 20 years’ service to Wellington City, says Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive John Milford.

“That’s a long time to be in the service of the city, particularly with the last six as mayor.

“It’s great that we have good people who are prepared to put up their hands and do these jobs, where they expose themselves to public scrutiny. It can be a thankless job.

“My dealings with her were always cordial. We didn’t always agree but it never got personal.

"She had the courage of her convictions in the face of public criticism on different issues, and she was consistent in her approach, and that’s all you can ask. I wish her well.”
