Police seeking information after Whakatane fall


At approximately 3.30am on Saturday 1 October, 2016, a male fell from the first-floor balcony of the Craic Hotel in Whakatane and onto the footpath below.

This male sustained serious injuries as a result, and is currently in a critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Waikato Hospital.

Whakatane Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding how the male came to fall and sustain his injuries.

“We are very grateful to the local community who have provided valuable information which has allowed us to progress this investigation in a positive manner,” says Detective Sergeant Darren Thomas of Eastern Bay of Plenty Police.

Police are appealing for any further information from members of the public who may have seen or heard anything in relation to this incident.
