A man has died on the Gunn Ridge track, near Whataroa on the West Coast this evening.
Two men were on a hunting trip when one slipped from a ridgeline and was killed in the fall.
His partner went for assistance and was rescued by Police.
He is currently receiving care from Victim Support.
A Search and Rescue recovery operation will take place tomorrow to recover the body of the deceased.
Further details will be released once next of kin are advised.
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
