Three people charged after campervan robberies
"Three people charged after campervan robberies"
West Coast Police have charged three people with aggravated robbery and burglary following recent offending targeting campervans in the Cobden area.
The three people - aged 16, 16 and 17 - appeared in Greymouth District Court today.
A number of other people are also being spoken to in relation to the offending and further arrests may be made.
“None of the victims - who were all overseas tourists - were injured during the robberies, however they were understandably shaken and are being supported by their embassies and Victim Support,” says Detective Sergeant Kirsten Norton.
“I’d like to reassure the victims, and other tourists and visitors to the area, that the people responsible for these robberies are being held to account.
We take this type of offending very seriously and will not tolerate it in our communities.”
Police would like to hear from anyone in the wider
Greymouth area who saw a red, older model Subaru Justy
hatchback between 8pm on Monday 17 October and 2am on
Tuesday 18 October.
Please call Greymouth Police on 03
768 1600.
Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
