Police looking for witnesses to assault in Rotorua

"Police looking for witnesses to assault in Kuirau Park, Rotorua"

Police are calling for witnesses following an incident at Kuirau Park, Rotorua in the early evening of Saturday 29 October.

Two Japanese tourists, one male and one female, were assaulted in the park by three men aged in their twenties, between 6pm and 6.30pm.

The male victim was punched to the face and received a broken jaw and the female was pushed over.

The woman’s grey Puma bag was taken during the incident.

In the bag were a number of personal items, including and iPad Air, iPhone 5 and camera, as well as cash.

The three alleged offenders are described as Maori and are believed to have been travelling in a large light blue vehicle, which turned into Tarewa Road from Kuirau Park.

Anyone with information in relation to the assault is asked to call Rotorua Police on 07 349 9400, and speak with Detective Mahara Alcock.

Information can also be shared anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
