"Auckland Police seek witnesses to serious assault"

Auckland Police are seeking witnesses to a serious assault on K-Road at approximately 2:30am this morning.

A 21-year-old and a 22-year-old male have been arrested after another 23 year-old man was beaten, kicked and stomped on while on the ground during a fight.

As a result of the assault the victim was knocked unconscious and received significant facial and head injuries requiring hospitalisation.

He remains in a serious but stable condition.

The 22-year-old has been charged with Wounding with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm and the 21-year-old has been charged with Assault with Intent to Injure.

Both men will appear in Auckland District Court tomorrow.

Police are seeking further witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the incident.
