Nelson Police investigate robbery

Nelson Police are investigating a robbery at the Z service station on Halifax Street last night and are calling for the public’s help to identify the offender.
Shortly after 8:00PM on Sunday 6 November, the offender entered the service station and approached the sole attendant at the counter.
During a short exchange the offender threatened the attendant before making off with cash.
He left on foot and was last seen heading west along Halifax Street towards Rutherford Street.
The offenders actions were captured on CCTV, “he has a very distinctive appearance and Police are confident people in the community will know who he is,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Johnston, Area Manager Criminal Investigations.
He is described as a male European aged in his 40’s or 50’s. He is of average height and build with a bald head and a large handlebar moustache. He had a very prominent tattoo on the side of his neck and possibly walked with a limp.
Police would like to hear from anybody that was in the area at the time and may have seen the offender or who knows his identity. Information can be passed by calling the Nelson Police station on 03 5463840 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
