Police appeal for sightings of vehicle linked to fatal fire

Auckland Police appeal for sightings of vehicle linked to fatal house fire

Police are wanting to locate a Red Honda Fit hatchback as part of its investigation into a fatal house fire in Mt Roskill late last night.

A person was found dead in the house at Rainford St, Mt Roskill, and investigations are continuing today into the cause of death.

Detective Inspector Scott Beard says Police are now wanting to find the car that is linked to the address.

The car is a Red 2003 Honda Fit Hatchback, registration GHL181.
It is likely to be in the Mt Roskill area but may be further away in Auckland.

“Locating the vehicle will help piece together events of last night in regards to the fatal fire.
If anyone has seen this car or knows of its whereabouts we’d like to hear from you as soon as possible,” says Detective Inspector Beard.

“The investigation is in its early stages and the cause of the fire and the death remain unexplained at this stage.
Until further enquiries are completed we cannot confirm the victim’s identity.”

If anyone has seen the car please contact Auckland Crime Squad on 09 302 6557 or you can provide information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
