Roskill Schools are worse off under National

Labour candidate for Mt Roskill Michael Wood today called on the government and his opponent to come clean on real funding decreases for Mt Roskill schools.

Yesterday Dr Parmar visited Mt Roskill Primary and Waikowhai Intermediate with the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, and later claimed that the schools were set to receive funding increases under the new funding policy."

"The parents of children at Mt Roskill Primary and Waikowhai Intermediate need to know that their two schools are going to receive less OPEX funding to the combined tune of $10,000 next year."

"And across the Mount Roskill electorate, 20 of the 21 schools will be worse off to a total of $121,000, because the government has intentionally given them funding below the forecast rate of inflation."

"That's $121,000 less for educating our children. It's $121,000 extra that our schools will have to find next year through fundraising or donations."

"I stand by these figures, and I call on Dr Parmar and the Minister to come clean about this."

"I look forward to debating my opponent on her dodgy use of figures at the NZEI by-election debate on Monday."
