Aucklanders set a new low record for water use

Media Update

30 March

Smashed em bro! Aucklanders set a new low record for water use!

Yesterday’s heavy rain was enough to deter Aucklanders from doing the washing or going for an early morning run and taking an extra shower … meaning we all used just 376 million litres of water— a new record since water savings began.

Since the call for voluntary cuts in water consumption went out three weeks ago, the closest Auckland has got to a sub- 380 figure is another rainy day: 12 March, when the Tasman Tempest hit Central and West Auckland, forcing everyone inside , resulting in low water demand.

The challenge will be to keep the savings going once the sun comes out but we know we can all do it!

So great job Auckland … keep doing what you’re doing and let’s all save 20 a day!

Ends.
