Trenching work on Waterloo Quay ahead of schedule

Trenching work on Waterloo Quay is ahead of schedule – but traffic delays can still be expected

Trenching work this week on Waterloo Quay – one of the main routes into Wellington’s CBD – is progressing much more quickly than scheduled – meaning the expected lane closures and traffic disruptions this weekend will not happen.

The trenching is to allow the installation of a high-voltage power connection to the new PwC building under construction on the waterfront.

Waterloo Quay will be reduced to one lane in both directions in off-peak periods until Friday while the trench is dug across the road to Bunny Street. Motorists are urged to take alternative routes or expect delays on the quays.
