SCOUTS New Zealand 22nd Jamboree Site Announced

SCOUTS New Zealand 22nd Scout Jamboree site announced

SCOUTS New Zealand is delighted to announce that the site of the SCOUTS New Zealand 22nd Scout Jamboree will be the Mystery Creek Events Centre, Waipā District, near Hamilton. The Jamboree will be held over the Christmas/New Year period from December 2019 to January 2020.

Located centrally in the Waikato region, the site provides space to run a wide range of exciting on-site activities as well as adventurous Scouting activities nearby. There is also great support from the Waipā District, Waikato District and Hamilton City Councils, alongside New Zealand National Fieldays Inc. who will work with the Jamboree team to develop and stage activities.

“Planning for the Jamboree is a three year activity for our volunteer team, and the Mystery Creek site ensures our volunteer effort is focused on developing and delivering adventurous activities, events and community service rather than site preparation”, says Jamboree Director, Guy Beatson.

A range of sites across the central and upper North Island were considered as part of the decision making process.

“We’re fortunate to be situated in the heart of the country. We have so many activities and action to offer the troops and it’s all so close. We’re sure local businesses will be excited to be a part of the visitor experience come 2019,” says Waipā District Mayor, Jim Mylchreest.

“We are very pleased at the prospect of 3,000 plus young people coming to enjoy what is on offer. We congratulate Mystery Creek Events Centre on showcasing a great site to house the many Scouts and we thank the other local councils who backed the bid, Hamilton City Council and Waikato District Council,” he says.
